JARROD GORBEL Devil's Made A New Friend Burning House Records BUY YOUR DIGITAL COPY FOR JUST $4.99 OR THE CD FOR JUST $7.99! http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/gorbel "Brooklyn singer-songwriter Jarrod Gorbel got his start moaning about heartache with dour indie-rock band the Honorary Title. Gorbel has shed his old group for the folkyDevil's Made a New Friend, but his mood remains as dark as ever. "The less extraordinary life gets/The more my love starts losing effect," he sighs in the solemn opener, "Extraordinary." In the hands of lesser musicians, the consistent cynicism could become a drag, but Gorbel leavens his world-weary outlook with sparkling arrangements: a string section in "I'll Do Better," bleary church organ in "Devilish Ways." And while his voice — a somber, gravelly baritone — is perfectly suited to his sentiment, it's just as effective when Gorbel lightens up. "Wherever you will be/That's where I call home," he sings on the rocketing "Each Breath," proving even the grouchiest bard is a softy underneath." - Rolling Stone HOLY ROLLING EMPIRE Gigantis Burning House Records BUY YOUR DIGITAL COPY HERE FOR JUST $4.99! http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/holyrolling "The Holy Rolling Empire has always been a band that has shied away from facile hooks and 4/4 time signatures in favor of complex arrangements, and Gigantis is no exception. It's easy to be impressed by the album on first listen, but it'll take a few spins before it starts to penetrate. Listeners willing to give it enough attention to get to that point will be justly rewarded." - Soundbites
We are excited to announce that we will be releasing Mansions new album, "Dig Up The Dead", in the spring of 2011. Christopher Browder has been a friend of Burning House since he toured with The Honorary Title a few years ago. A few months ago he sent us a demo version of his new album and before we even finished listening to the whole thing; the decision to try and work together was made. Mansions is back with Dig Up The Dead - the sophomore full length - due Spring 2011 on Burning House Records / King Bones Recordings Based out of Louisville, Kentucky, Mansions is the brainchild of Christopher Browder who effortlessly combines elements of late 90’s indie fare with classic alt rock, resulting in fuzzed out emotive offerings transcending the trends permeating the industry.
